Bernard John Taupin CBE (born 22 May 1950) is a famous English songwriter, singer and visual artist. The most well-known of his talents is his long-term collaboration with the musician Elton John, a songwriting partnership that is among the most successful in recent history. Taupin has written the lyrics to a lot of John's songs.In 1967, Taupin answered an advertisement in the music paper New Musical Express placed by Liberty Records, a company that was seeking new songwriters. John also responded to the same ad and they've collaborated on a number of albums. Taupin as well as John were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1992.Taupin was born in Flatters House, a farmhouse located between the town of Anwick and the town of Sleaford located in the southern portion of Lincolnshire, England, the son of Robert Taupin and Daphne, daughter of John Leonard Palchett "Poppy" Cort, who was a Cambridge University-educated classics teacher and former rector at Sale, Greater Manchester (then was counted as being in Cheshire.
