Bernard John Taupin, CBE (born 22 May 1950), is a popular English musician, singer, and artist. The most well-known of his talents is his long-running collaboration with the musician Elton John, a songwriting partnership that is one of the most popular in the history of music. Taupin wrote the lyrics to many of John's songs. In 1967, Taupin responded to an advertisement in New Musical Express by Liberty Records. John also responded to the same ad and they've collaborated on a number of albums. Taupin and John were admitted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1992.Taupin was born in Flatters House, a farmhouse located between the town of Anwick and the town of Sleaford located in the southern portion of Lincolnshire, England, the son of Robert Taupin and Daphne, daughter of John Leonard Palchett "Poppy" Cort who was an educated classics professor at the University of Cambridge. teacher, and former rector of Sale, Greater Manchester (then counted as in Cheshire).
