Dolly Rebecca Parton (born January 19, 1946) is an American actor, singer, philanthropist, and businesswoman who is most famous for her work in the field of country music. Parton's success as a songwriter led her to make her debut album in 1967, with Hello, I'm Dolly. It was followed by a run of success throughout the 1960s, both as a solo artist, as well as in an album series featuring Porter Wagoner, before she hit her peak in sales in the 1970s and continued through the 1980s. The albums she released in the 1990s did not sell similarly, however she was able to achieve commercial success after the turn of the millennium. She has released albums through various independent labels from 2000 onward as well as her own label Dolly Records. The label has sold more than 100 million records worldwide.Parton's music includes Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA)-certified platinum, gold and multi-platinum award. Her songs have had 25 get to No. 1 on the Billboard country music charts which is a record for a female singer (tied with Reba McEntire). The singer has scored 44 Top 10 Country Albums in her career, which is a record for any artist. In addition, she has 110 career-charted singles during the past 40 years.
