Dolly Rebecca Parton (born January 19th 1946) is an American singer-songwriter, actress, philanthropist, and businesswoman most well-known for her work in country music. After having achieved success as a writer for other artists, Parton made her album debut in 1967 with Hello, I'm Dolly, which led to success during the remainder of the 1960s (both as a solo artist and with an album of duets with Porter Wagoner), before her chart-toppers and sales occurred in the 1970s and continued through the 1980s. While her 1990s albums did not sell well, she was able to achieve commercial success in the 2000s. She has since released albums on several independent labels such as Dolly Records. The label has sold more than 100 million albums worldwide.Parton's music includes Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA)-certified gold, platinum and multi-platinum award. Her songs have had 25 reach no. one on the Billboard country charts which is a record for a female singer (tied with Reba McEntire). Her 44 Top 10 Country Albums are an all-time record for any artist.
