American actress Sanaa McCoy Lethan was born September 19, 1971. She is the daughter Eleanor McCoy, an actress and Stan Lathan, a film director. After appearing in the TV shows In the House and Family Matters, NYPD Blue, Moesha and NYPD Blue, her acting career took off. After her appearances on the shows In the Home Family Matters, In the House, NYPD Blue, and Moesha, Lathan gained further fame. She also appeared in the 1998 film about superheroes, Blade. Lathan then went into film roles in Love & Basketball (2000) and Brown Sugar (2002). Lathan's Broadway performance in A Raisin in the Sun was nominated for the Tony Awards as Best Featured actor in the Musical. After that performance, she played the character Alexa "Lex” Woods in Alien vs. Predator. Lathan played the lead in Tyler Perry's 2008 film The Family That Preys. Lathan was back in theatre in the year 2010, playing Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, an all-black production at the Novello Theatre.
