Whoopi Goldberg

 Caryn Elaine Johnson (born November 13th, 1955), known professionally as Whoopi Goldberg (/'wUpiWhoopi Goldberg/) is an American actor, comedian, author, and television personality.A recipient of numerous accolades She is among 17 entertainers to be awarded the EGOT which includes an Emmy Award, a Grammy Award as well as an Academy Award ("Oscar") as well as a Tony Award. In 2001, she received the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.Goldberg started her career on stage in 1983 with her show that was a one-woman show called Spook Show, which was later transferred into Broadway under the title Whoopi Goldberg which ran from 1984 until 1985. The show's recording was a success and she received the Grammy Award for Best Comedy Album. Her breakthrough role in film was in 1985 when she played Celie as a woman who is mistreated in the Deep South in Steven Spielberg’s period drama film The Color Purple. She received the Golden Globe Award as Best Actress in Motion Picture Drama.
