His contribution to the growth of the World Wrestling Federation, now WWE in the Attitude Era (an industry boom period in late 1990s and the early 2000s) was widely acknowledged. Johnson was a member of the WWF for 18 years before making the decision to pursue a career as an actor. Johnson was an actor before becoming a top-grossing performer in the decade of 2010, had previously wrestled with the WWF for eight years. Johnson was a star at Freedom High School, Bethlehem Township, Pennsylvania, in the Lehigh Valley. He played on the school's football and wrestling teams.
