Lord

It is a testament to the power and creativity of the British poet Alfred Lord Tennyson that Alfred Lord Tennyson is ranked as the ninth most quoted author in The Oxford Dictionary of Quotations. He was the Victorian era's most famous poet and Poet Laureate for Great Britain and Ireland. A child prodigy, Tennyson showed an early fascination with writing that sealed his fate for future. But fame and respect wasn't easy for this creatively overpowering man. Tennyson in his early years of poetry was criticized as 'an obscure poet'. Disheartened, he did not compose a poem for nine years. The fourth decade of the 19th century altered Tennyson's destiny and marked the beginning of his legacy. In 1850, Tennyson's 'In Memoriam' was the most important work of his career. The career of the author reached new heights, and he was seen as a successor to William Wordsworth. Many of Tennyson’s most famous phrases are now well-known in English Languages.
