Dolly Rebecca Parton (born January 19th 1946) is an American actor, singer-songwriter as well as a philanthropist and businesswoman most well-known for her work in country music. After becoming a successful writer for other artists, Parton made her album debut in 1967 with Hello, I'm Dolly, which was followed by success throughout the remainder of the 1960s (both as a solo artist and with a series of duet albums together with Porter Wagoner), before her peak sales and chart position began in the 1970s, and continued throughout the 1980s. Although her albums from the 1990s did not sell well however, she did succeed commercially in the new millennium. The singer has since released albums through various independent labels such as Dolly Records. Parton has sold over 100 million records around the globe. Her music includes Recording Industry Association of America's (RIAA-certified platinum, gold, and multi-platinum award-winning tracks. She has had 25 songs get to No. She ranked no. 1 on the Billboard country charts and set a record for a female singer (tied to Reba McEntire). She has 44 career Top 10 country albums, which is a record for any artist.
