Karen Sheila Gillan, /'gIl@nwas born on the 28th of November 1987, and is a Scottish actress. Her work in British television and film brought her fame, particularly for her role as Amy Pond (a primary companion of the Eleventh Doctor) in Doctor Who (2010-2013), where she was nominated and received numerous awards. Jane Lockhart and Ally were her first film roles, in the romantic comedy Not Another Happy Ending (2013). She also worked on the stage while in Britain as she appeared in the play of John Osborne Inadmissible Evidence (2011) before making her Broadway debut in the show Time to Act (2013).Gillan made her move to Hollywood acting as Kaylie Russell in the horror film Oculus (2013) and was her debut commercial success in the United States, and thereafter played the lead in the sitcom Selfie (2014). Her international fame was achieved through portraying Nebula in the Marvel Cinematic Universe superhero films Guardians of the Galaxy (2014), Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.
