 Taraji Penda Henson, /t@'ra/dZi/t@-RAH/jee was born on September 11, 1970. She is an American actor. She was a student at Howard University and began her Hollywood career with guest roles on a variety of television shows prior to getting her first big break with the film Baby Boy (2001). She was a prostitute in Hustle & Flow (2005) where she received an award called the Screen Actors Guild Award in the category of Outstanding Performance for the Cast in a Motion Picture nomination. In 2008, she portrayed the role of a single mother with a child who is disabled in David Fincher's The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button (2008) for which she won Critics Choice Award, SAG Award, and Academy Award nominations for Best Supporting Actress. She was in Date Night in 2010 and she also co-starred in the remake of The Karate Kid with Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith. She starred in Taken from Me: A Tiffany Rubin Story, a Lifetime Television movie.
