Thomas Lee Bass, born October 3, 1962, is an American musician. Bass was the first member of Motley Crue's metal group. Lee is the long-term drummer for the group and founded Methods of Mayhem, a rap metal band. He has also pursued solo projects. In the latter part of the 1970s, Suite 19 was a frequent performance on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles alongside other emerging acts such as Quiet Riot and Van Halen. He was introduced to the bassist Nikki Sixx, whose bands Sister and then London performed on the same circuit. Sixx was forming a theatre band, which drew heavily on Sister's mix between occult imagery and a theatrical display of heavy metal. Sixx became a fan Lee's drumming. Lee Sixx, who stood 6 2 1/2 inches tall and had a lean physique, dropped his name at the time. When London was finally disbanded in 1981, Lee and Sixx decided to form a new band together.
