 Dwayne Douglas Johnson (born May 2, 1972), also known by his ring name The Rock, is an American actor and former professional wrestler. The Rock is widely regarded as one of the top professional wrestlers ever and was instrumental in the creation and growth of the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, which is now WWE) in the Attitude Era, a business boom time that lasted from the late 1990s to the early 2000s. Johnson was a wrestler for the WWF for eight years prior to pursuing an acting career. Johnson was an actor before he became a top-grossing actor in the 2010s, had previously wrestled with the WWF for eight years. At Freedom High School in Bethlehem Township, Pennsylvania in the Lehigh Valley, he ultimately emerged as a standout on the school's wrestling and football teams, which competed in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference, a conference that has produced top professional and Olympic athletes. His high school football coach was instrumental in motivating him to change his life.
