Earl Simmons (December 18, 1970 - - April 9, 2021) was known as DMX (short for "Dark Man X") was an American actor and rapper. His debut album called It's Hot and Dark was released in 1998 to great critical and commercial satisfaction. The album sold 251,000 copies in the first week. In 1999, DMX released... and Then There was X. It included the hit song "Party Up (Up here)". His singles "Where is the Hood At?" and "X Gon' Give It to Ya?" in 2003 were also a huge success. and "X Gon' Give It To Ya" were commercially successful. He was the first artist to debut an album at No.1 five times in a row in the Billboard 200 charts. DMX sold more than 74 million records around the world. In 2006, he starred in the reality TV series DMX: Soul of a Man that was broadcast by the BET cable television network. In 2003, he released the memoirs of his life entitled E.A.R.L. : The Autobiography of DMX.
