Karen Sheila Gillan, /'gIl@n/ was born 28 November 1987. She is a Scottish actress. She was recognized for her work in British TV and film specifically for her character Amy Pond, a primary character in the Eleventh Doctor in the science fiction show Doctor Who (2010-2013), for which she was awarded numerous nominations and awards. Her first film roles included Ally in the film thriller Outcast (2010) and Jane Lockhart in the romantic comedy film Not Another Happy Ending (2013). While in Britain she also appeared on the stage, first playing John Osborne's character in the production of Inadmissible Evidence (2011), then making her Broadway debut in Time to Act (2013).
