Courteney Bass Cox (previously Courteney Cox Arquette; born June 15th 1964) is an American actor and film maker. She was recognized internationally for her starring role in the role of Monica Geller on the NBC sitcom Friends which ran from 1994 until 2004. For her performance in the show, she was awarded seven Screen Actors Guild Award nominations and won one. She received further recognition for acting as Gale Weathers in the horror film franchise Scream (1996-present). She also appeared in Family Ties (1987-1989), Lucy Spiller (1907-2008), and Jules Cobb (1909-2015) on ABC/TBS. These films earned her nominations for the Golden Globe Awards as well as the Comedy Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994), the animation Barnyard (2006) as well as the fantasy comedy Bedtime Stories (2008).
